Shawn Rojeski Interview. November 25th, 2005

We put the U.S. Men’s Olympic team into the spotlight and catch up with Shawn Rojeski, the third on Team Fenson. We talk about the current season, playing on tour in Canada, playing against other American teams as the Olympic team, the Ice 2005 show that will air November 27th (UPDATE: I WAS WRONG. IT’S DECEMBER 10TH AND 11TH FROM 4-6 PM ON BOTH DAYS. VERY CLOSE, BUT NOT QUITE A CONFLICT WITH THE CANADIAN TRIALS COVERAGE.) on NBC and even (sort of) the softwood lumber tariffs.

We talked with Cheryl a few hours before she left for Abbotsford and the Wayden Transportation Classic. We discuss last season, her new team this season, the book Between the Sheets that she wrote with Guy Scholz, and whether we’ll be be seeing her in next year’s calendar of female curlers after George Karrys suggested it on The Curling News Blog.

Pat Simmons Interview. November 13th, 2005

We caught up with Pat between his first and second games in the Best Western Wayside Inn Classic in Lloydminster, Alberta. (Or is it Saskatchewan? I guess it depends which side of the street you’re on.) Pat talks about the team’s recent loss in the final of The National, their desire to win a major event, their 0-6 start this season and the fabulous shade of green in those Saskatchewan Brier jackets.

Just to make sure there’s no confusion about one section of the interview – Pat and I were talking about the awful banquet jackets the Alberta and Saskatchewan teams have to wear at the Brier. I recounted a story about running into Pat Ryan’s team at the ‘88 Brier on the hotel elevator while they were wearing those fabulous jackets. Listening to the interview, it might sound like I was saying I was on Pat Ryan’s Alberta team which, of course, I was not. The Ryan Express handled our Quebec team pretty easily that year.

As always, there’s a healthy serving of sweet Black Pudding.

We reached John in Port Hawkesbury during Day Two of The National, the first Slam of the year. John is frank and honest, discussing the team’s lack of success last year, his record against Randy Ferbey, controlling his emotions on the ice and even his favorite month in the new calendar of female curlers.

Remember, the easiest way to subscribe to this podcast is in iTunes – whether you’re on a Mac or a PC. We’re also in the Yahoo! podcast directory.

Thanks again to Black Pudding for the music.
