Hiro Saito of the WCF from the Women’s World Championships. March 19th, 2007

With the women’s worlds in Asia for the first time ever, we talked to Hiro Saito of the World Curling Federation as games were underway in Aomori. Hiro has been a major proponent of curling in Japan — we discussed the growth and popularity of the game in his country, the plans to increase the number of facilities and, since he’s on the WCF board, we also asked him for the details on Mixed Doubles.

Richard Hart after the Tim Horton’s Brier. March 17th, 2007

A few days after his team captured the Canadian championship, we talked to Richard Hart of Team Howard/Ontario/Canada. Rich weighed in on a range of topics, including the troubles with the ice and rocks in Hamilton, their choice for an alternate at the World’s and two shots in the final game — Brad Gushue’s last in the seventh end and Glenn Howard’s last in the ninth end.

Steve Bice Interview. March 1st, 2007

Who the @#$*! is Steve Bice, you ask? Well, he’s going to the 2007 Tim Horton’s Brier as the Alternate for Team Glenn Howard. Plucked from the Spare Pool for the final game in the TSC Stores Ontario Tankard final, Steve has gone from spectator to a job in Hamilton that the average curler would love to have. Hear from Steve about how it happened, how the game went and how he handled the post-game celebration.
