Just a few days after Team Martin captured the BDO Classic Canadian Open, we caught up with lead Ben Hebert. Ben talks about the experience of playing with Kevin Martin, discusses the rivalry with the Ferbey Four and explains a bit more about how this team came together.

Pat Simmons during the BDO Classic Canadian Open. January 26th, 2007

It was another call to Winnipeg but this time we were talking to Pat Simmons, one of Saskatchewan’s best. During a break at the Asham World Curling Tour’s BDO Classic Canadian Open, Pat talks about the team’s ever-changing front end, gives his thoughts on eight end games and discusses the state of the game in Saskatchewan. Make it to the end of the interview to hear my thoughts on curling’s latest cresting flap.

Ryan Fry Interview. January 17th, 2007

The curling world seems to revolve around Winnipeg for the next two weeks, with the MCA Bonspiel getting underway and the Asham World Curling Tour making a stop in the city for the BDO Classic Canadian Open. Which meant we decided to talk to Ryan Fry, one of Manitoba’s good young players and Jeff Stoughton’s new Third. Ryan talks about deciding to play with Jeff, the young team he played with in the past and the team’s 2006-2007 season.

Cathy King Interview. January 10th, 2007

We called Cathy King this week to get her thoughts on her team’s season so far, Dana Allerton’s pink slip and whether Lori Olson should throw skip rocks. Among other things, of course. One thing we didn’t talk about was how she was feeling — we didn’t realize at the time of the interview that she was pretty sore after a recent face plant on the ice.

John Base Interview. January 3rd, 2007

Following a holiday break, we’re back with John Base, the skip of one of the more surprising teams this season. John discusses the impact of a limited schedule, the decision to play in the BDO Classic Canadian Open (I really think the “Classic” part of this event name needs to go away) instead of the Ontario Challenge Round, and the chemistry of this new lineup.
